Why is a PeacePark important?
We wish to educate the wider community about caring for the environment by our example as environmental stewards. The example is a beautiful and welcoming natural environment, which inspires people to enjoy and respect the earth.
This breaks down into three points:
Provide a beautiful and meditative space for the use of the members of the faith community as well as neighbors and visitors.
Provide habitat for bird, small mammals, and insects by the use of native plantings.
Provide an educational experience for those who visit on the benefits of onsite management of storm water conservation with a cistern and the use of native plants.
PeacePark Development
The following activities and development opportunities are scheduled to take place:
An organic apiary with several honey bee hives with opportunities to train in beekeeping
Gardens to produce a variety of fruits and vegetables
Meditation stations sprinkled throughout the park.
The community Peace Park property will be well equipped with digital audio/video access and timed motion detection for early morning and after dusk monitoring that will be managed by Stillmeadow Community Projects Inc., a nonprofit organization.
In addition, there will be available research & observational projects within the park biota, e.g. flora, fauna, fungi, etc. in urban settings, 10 acres of organic space in the city of Baltimore and available for urban camping.
